About Me

Who I Am

I'm registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker. I have specialised training in Sensorimotor Art Therapy. My practice is deeply trauma-informed, neuroaffirming & holistic, grounded in the understanding that healing happens when we work with the whole person, mind & body.

I work in a warm, collaborative way that centres your strengths & experiences. I believe you are the expert in your own life & my role is to provide a safe, non-judgemental space where we can show up exactly as we are.

Why This Work Matters

I'm particularly passionate about working with women, children, young people & folks from the LGBTQIA+ community to support their mental health. Through years of practice, I've learned that whilst talk therapy can be valuable, sometimes things are too hard to talk about, or we simply don't have the words yet. This realisation led me to Sensorimotor Art Therapy, an approach that honours how our bodies hold experiences & wisdom alongside our thoughts & words.

I believe in creating space where all identities are celebrated & honoured, & where we can reconnect with what matters most.

How I Work

My approach draws on several therapeutic frameworks, always adapted to what works for each person:

Sensorimotor Art Therapy combines body awareness with creative expression, allowing you to process emotions & experiences that traditional talk therapy might not fully reach. This evidence-based approach recognises how trauma & emotions are stored in our bodies, requiring healing approaches that engage both brain & body.

In sessions, you might work with various art materials (clay, paint, pastels, collage) whilst staying connected to your body's sensations & responses. There's no artistic skill required. The focus is about the process not the finished product. I'll guide you to stay present with bodily feelings whilst creating, helping you make sense of what surfaces.

Your body holds wisdom that words alone cannot access. This approach is particularly valuable if you've experienced trauma, feel disconnected from your body, or have found talk therapy challenging, repetitive, or unhelpful.

Narrative Therapy recognises you as the expert in your own life. Together, we explore your story & reconnect with what matters most to you.

Body-Awareness Approaches might include tuning into sensations, breath, & movement alongside talking. These approaches work with the nervous system's responses to restore regulation & help release stuck trauma responses.

Additional Frameworks I draw on include ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), Psychoeducation, Motivational Interviewing, & Mindfulness practices, always finding the right approach for each person.

Whether you prefer talk therapy, art therapy, or a combination of both, we'll work together to find what suits you.

My Practice Philosophy

Trauma-Informed: I understand how trauma impacts both brain & body, & how healing requires approaches that engage the whole person.

Neuroaffirming: I adapt my approach to honour your unique communication, sensory, & processing needs. Everyone's brain works differently, & that's something to celebrate, not fix.

Strengths-Based: Rather than focusing on what's "wrong," we identify & build on your existing strengths & resilience.

Collaborative: This is your space. We work together at your pace, in ways that feel authentic to you.

Respecting Client Autonomy: I believe in every person's right to choose their own healthcare provider & to make decisions about their care. Continuity of therapeutic relationships matters, & people deserve access to the support that works best for them.

I maintain part-time work in mental health services, which keeps me connected to contemporary practice whilst creating space for individual client work.
